As with any complex mechanism, a piano needs regular maintenance in order to operate at its full potential.
Paul James is a qualified piano tuner and technician, who obtained his diploma in piano tuning from Newark College - Europe's leading piano engineering school.
Additionally, Paul is a trained musician, with a BMus degree in Music from The University of Wales, Bangor, and an MMus degree in Music Composition from Huddersfield University. It was whilst studying for his master's degree that Paul began to develop a love of abstract sound and music focused upon sonic effects. It was here that he began inadvertently honing his ear to listen to sound in the way required to tune pianos. He began training to become a piano tuner shortly after completing his degree.
Paul has a particular love for the uniquely beautiful sound of the piano, and is therefore passionate about, and dedicated to making each piano that he tunes sound its very best.
Paul recently tuned the piano for Regina Spektor's show at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
